About the Symposium

The International Symposium on the Mediterranean Lacertid Lizards is a scientific conference that brings together researchers and experts dedicated to the study of Mediterranean lacertid lizards. It provides a unique place for sharing advances in biology, ecology, zoogeography, evolution, genetics, taxonomy, systematics, phylogeny, behavior, and conservation of this reptile group.

The symposium brings together established researchers, early-career scientists, and students in an open and collaborative environment. It is a place where students present their first research and connect with leading specialists, where innovative methods and theoretical advances are introduced, and where new ideas and collaborations emerge.

As the global biodiversity crisis increasingly affects the Mediterranean region and its unique lacertid fauna, the meeting provides an important platform for sharing the latest research findings, identifying emerging threats, presenting new diagnostic and monitoring tools, and promoting science-based conservation strategies. By fostering scientific exchange and international collaboration, the symposium contributes to advancing our understanding and long-term conservation of Mediterranean lacertid lizards and their habitats.
